Mika’s Eclectic

I’m Mika, a portrait artist and fellow dog lover from Dublin, Ireland and I’ve been lucky enough to be creating portraits of your furry friends since 2020. I use coloured pencil and high quality watercolour paper to create these portraits and although the majority of my commissions are dog portraits, I also draw horses, bunnies and cats. Additionally, I also take commissions for custom paintings in watercolour and oil painting.

Pencil Portrait Size Options

6x9 Portrait

This is the smaller of the coloured pencil portrait options. This portrait still features lots of detail and character but I would recommend keeping the composition focused on the the head and chest to allow for this detail. A perfect gift! Measurement is in inches. Head to the The Process section for all you need to know including pricing and how to get the best shot.

9x12 Portrait

This is the most common size portrait that you will see on my page. It allows for great detail, full body options along with 2 dogs in the same portrait if desired. Depending on the picture, I generally recommend focusing on the head and shoulders to really capture the character of your furry friend but full body pictures can also be great!

12x18 Portrait

An A3 portrait is larger again and perfect if you are looking for a bigger stand-out piece with even finer details, a full body portrait or even 2-3 pets. It also allows room for detailed accessories, e.g. the portrait at the top of this page with Ralph, a King Charles, sitting on a cushion. To see more examples of all portrait sizes, check out the Gallery section.
